Update #1

Padel is here. A new era at TTC.

However you say it — padel, paddle, "pah-del" — it's arrived. We're trialing the first padel experience in Orange County, and this page is where you can learn what it is, where it came from, and what's coming.

Padel at TTC
Play. Connect. Celebrate.

What Is Padel?

Padel is one of the fastest-growing racquet sports in the world. It combines elements of tennis, pickleball, and squash — played in a doubles court enclosed by glass and mesh walls, where the ball stays in play off the walls, much like squash. Like pickleball, it's fun, social, and easy to pick up. Like tennis, it's exciting and entertaining to watch. And like the best of TTC, it brings an elevated lifestyle experience — events and activations built around music, fashion, food, and padel at the center of it all.

Origin
Invented in 1969

Padel was created by Enrique Corcuera in Acapulco, Mexico, who built an enclosed court in his backyard to work around a wall separating his property. The sport spread quickly to Spain and Argentina through the 1970s, where it became deeply woven into the culture.

Why It Works
Easy In, Hard to Put Down

The enclosed court and underhand serve make padel approachable for total beginners within minutes, while the strategy and wall-play give experienced racquet-sport players a real challenge. It's social by design — always doubles, always a conversation on the court.

A New Era

Padel at TTC

TTC has always been ahead of the curve. As the founder of the first pickleball club in the world, we're continuing to lead racquet sports innovation by bringing the first padel experience to Orange County. What better place than here.

Where

A padel court is currently set up on our turf area over tennis court 11 — you may have already spotted it.

The Trial

A highly experienced padel company is bringing a special event with lessons, clinics, and programming, for a trial run at TTC.

The Timeline

We're anticipating a special launch event during the first or second week of September — final details are still being finalized.

What We're Watching

Over the next three months, we'll watch this activation closely, gather member feedback, and evaluate whether padel becomes a permanent offering at TTC clubs.

Coming Next

Update #2 will introduce the padel group and their offerings, on their terms — we want to respect how they'd like to be introduced.
